The accompaniment of this week was with both English teachers due to I had to replace the primary
English teacher on Thursday because of personal matters. The first day
(Wednesday) I prepared classes for 8th and 9th grades about the use of did in
making questions. These classes were well developed without any kind of
repercussion or problem; what was interesting during this week happened when I
replaced the teacher of primary for many circumstances.
One of
those were the fact to be responsible in all the correspondent groups that I was
in charge that day. So, it was challenging due to I had never been in class with a group by myself, the times where I gave classes were with the accompaniment of my co-operator teacher. For this reason, students behaved differently than when the teacher is in the classroom. On another hand, the planning for the classes was given to me without any instruction or recommendation, it was just the agenda with the topics. This problem caused me some difficulties in the class because I did not prepare anything and the teacher did not ask me to do so.
All these issues together with the students' behavior made classroom management almost impossible. The replacement was with 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades which the 3rd was the less difficult. In 5th grade, something that had never happened to me appeared: I had to make an annotation to a student because of her rudeness. At the moment I was giving the class, this student was constantly interrupting me and making jokes about the class, I stopped her and asked to tell the joke because I wanted to laugh as well. At that moment, she passed in front of the class and started saying that was able to give the class instead of me. Evidently, I could not allow that type of behavior and went for the observer in order to write the respective annotation.
The experience of this week was very productive since I had to deal with situations that I had never had. For this reason, I learned in a superficial way how to manage this kind of issues inside the class because at the beginning I did not know what to do when that student started to sabotage my class. However, with the help of the other teachers, I could know how to keep on the class normally.
